Interview Coaching

I develop a custom interview for you for one target position. Usually, the custom question set includes typical interview questions (not role-specific), questions about your resume/background, qualifications for the chosen target job, company and industry knowledge, and wrap-up questions. In addition, I include a mix of informational questions, behavioral questions, and stumpers (hard-to-answer, illegal, or confusing questions) to help you decide how to respond when and if these types come up.

The interview is divided into two parts:

  • A 60-minute interview, with customized questions, developed based on the skills you want to practice and drawing on your resume and target job.
  • A 60-minute debriefing session, where we break down what went well, what didn’t, and what we can do about it.
  • We also typically spend some time discussing how you may have answered behavioral questions so you can be sure you have good situational examples and explain them in a straightforward, concise, and compelling way.

We Meet via Zoom.

  • I will record the video and send you a link after the meeting so you can watch it.
  • I also use an automated transcription app to capture the conversation and generate a transcript.
  • After the practice interview, I will review the recording, read through the transcript, and clean up the transcription.
  • I then revise the transcription, add feedback on your delivery, and advise you on how to “re-map” your answers for clarity, length, and impact.
  • I will also add notes based on our debrief session and anything else I noticed during the review.
  • For most interviews, the transcript is 50+ pages.
  • I will send you a list of resources and tips for improving your interviews.
  • This package requires 2 hours of prep work, 2 hours for the practice interview, and approximately 8 hours of reviewing and editing your transcript and communicating with you via email.

Due to the extended preparation, time spent, and follow up necessary, practice interviews are billed at a higher rate
than 1-on-1 coaching. Current rates are outlined in the Menu of Services each client receives upon scheduling their intake meeting.
